Harrogate buses display poppies as free travel returns for Armed Forces

Transdev colleagues, who are former Armed Forces personnel.

Harrogate buses are displaying large commemorative poppies as part of Transdev’s Poppy Appeal campaign for 2026.

Dozens of Harrogate Bus Company vehicles have been adorned with poppies, joining hundreds across the operator’s fleets in Yorkshire and Lancashire.

Transdev will also offer free travel to current and former Armed Forces personnel on Remembrance Sunday (8th November) and Remembrance Day (11th November).

The offer will apply across its whole network. Current service personnel will need to show a Forces ID, while veterans can travel free in uniform or wearing their medals.

The campaign aims to encourage passengers to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice and support the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.

Transdev Managing Director Henri Rohard said:

“This Remembrance Weekend and Armistice Day, we are reminded of the sacrifice that the men and women of our Armed Forces have made for our freedom.

“We hope that by displaying these large poppies on our buses, many of our customers will join us in remembering those who serve and will donate to charitable causes that support our veterans.

“And for those current and former personnel who use our buses, we hope the free travel option allows them to visit friends, family, and local Remembrance events on both of these important days.”

The company also attended a careers event at Catterick Garrison in September, represented by colleagues who had served in the Armed Forces.

It has joined the Ministry of Defence’s Career Transition Partnership scheme, which helps service personnel move into civilian employment.

Transdev regularly recruits engineers and drivers across Yorkshire and Lancashire. Read more online here.
