The Aldborough and Boroughbridge Agricultural Show returns to Newby Hall next weekend, marking the 111th staging of the much‑loved Yorkshire rural event.
A staple of Yorkshire’s summer calendar, the show is back on Sunday 26th July, promising a day of rural celebration, family fun and traditional entertainment.
New for 2026 are a rural wellbeing hub, a creative writing competition and a “fittest farmer” challenge, joining a packed programme of long‑standing favourites that showcase the best of farming, countryside skills and children’s activities.
Opening at 9.30am, the show features a wide range of traditional livestock and equine classes, including the cattle parade, cattle and sheep showing, horse and donkey classes, heavy horses and private driving.
Family entertainment includes dog agility displays, terrier racing, children’s horticultural classes, races and fancy dress.
Visitors can also enjoy photography, creative handicrafts, floral, baking and preserves competitions, as well as a vintage vehicle display.
Trade stands, a craft tent, a beer tent and cream teas are also available
The show enjoys support from local businesses and the rural community, including the Boroughbridge Agricultural Society, Boroughbridge Chamber of Trade and the Boroughbridge Agricultural Society.
Newly appointed show president Amanda Gill said:
“I am deeply honoured to be appointed president of our traditional rural show. We are very grateful to the local community for its ongoing support.
"Agriculture is having a tough time, and it is more important than ever to work with our local community to demonstrate the importance of the rural economy to the public, our much‑loved countryside and the stability of the food chain for us all.”
Stuart Gill, commercial director at Newby Hall, said:
“The Aldborough and Boroughbridge Show is one of the highlights of our calendar and we are delighted to be welcoming it back to Newby again this year.
"It’s an amazing opportunity to enjoy some of the best of Yorkshire’s livestock, vintage vehicles and locally grown produce, as well as our spectacular gardens and adventure playground.”
Discounted tickets are available online at www.newbyhall.com – £12.95 for adults (£16 on the gate) and £5 for children aged 12–17 (£6.50 on the gate). Children under 12 go free. A family ticket is £30 (online only).
Newby season ticket holders receive a 50% discount on the day, with no booking required. Tickets include entry to Newby’s award‑winning gardens and adventure playground.
Dogs are welcome on the show field but are not permitted in Newby’s gardens.
A free bus service will run between Boroughbridge and Newby Hall, calling at Minskip, Aldborough, Boroughbridge, Kirby Hill, Langthorpe and Skelton.
