Jail and Bail: How to support Harrogate Theatre fundraiser

Harrogate Theatre is hosting a 'jail and bail' fundraising event next week.

A team of well-known Harrogate figures and community leaders will be facing 'time behind bars' in aid of Harrogate Theatre next week.

A team of well-known Harrogate figures are set to be ‘locked up’ in aid of Harrogate Theatre as part of a unique fundraiser.

The 'Jail and Bail' event will see the team of fundraisers ‘jailed’ today (Monday) and only released if they meet their ‘bail’ money.

Volunteers will be doing ‘porridge’ for their entirely fictitious crimes at Harrogate Theatre and will have two hours to fundraise to ensure release.

During the event, they will have their mugshots taken, spend time in the exercise yard and most importantly, try to raise as much money as possible to secure their release.

Natalie Rawel, Head of Marketing and Development at Harrogate Theatre, said:

“Supporting Harrogate Theatre has never been more important. Following recent funding cuts, every single contribution makes a real difference.

"What many people don’t realise is that for each show we stage, we receive only around 20% of the ticket income.

“That unfortunately isn’t enough to sustain the breadth of work we do or to cover everything involved in keeping our historic building open and thriving for the community.

"Every pound of support helps safeguard the future of Harrogate Theatre and we are so grateful to all those who support us."

Do you want to help someone you know to raise 'bail' money and ensure their freedom?

Just head to the fundraising page at https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/jail-and-bail and mention the name of your chosen inmate when making your donation.

Alternatively you can text HARROGATE to 70450 to donate £5.
