An iconic beeswax candle shop in Knaresborough is set to close its doors today (Friday) for the final time.
The Yorkshire Beeswax Candle Co said that with “deep sadness” it has been forced to close.
The business, which opened on Green Dragon Yard in 2023, has secured a new premises in Hebden Bridge.
In December, owner Michael Landreth was informed that the building the shop currently rents was to be sold.
In an official statement, he said:
“Our original intention was to continue operating both shops; however, due to ongoing uncertainty surrounding the Knaresborough premises and landlord, along with additional factors supporting this decision, we have made the difficult choice to close our Knaresborough location permanently.
“This has not been an easy decision, and we are incredibly grateful for the loyalty and support our customers have shown us over the years.”
Michael added:
“While this chapter is coming to an end, this is not a complete goodbye to Knaresborough or North Yorkshire.
“We remain committed to serving the North Yorkshire area and will be working incredibly hard to ensure we continue to be accessible to you.”
