A community-minded cafe in Starbeck is offering free packed lunches to those in need this half term.
The Living Room is bringing back its ‘Packed Lunch Project’ this week in which families are provided with nutritious lunches, alongside a hot meal pack for one evening meal.
The scheme fed over 200 families during the Easter holidays and again aims to help those who may be struggling financially.
Families can visit the cafe between 10:30am and 12:30pm on Thursday (30th May) for their free meal, packed by the Living Room team.
The project is being organised by cafe Manager Sarah Khanye.
She said:
“This will be our tenth Packed Lunch Project.
“It all came out of a midnight idea to help - if we can - just for one day to ease the pressure off a family, couple or individual by providing them with a free lunch and hot meal pack for tea.”
The free lunch typically contains a sandwich alongside snacks including crisps, yogurts and a biscuit.
Anyone who would be interested in taking advantage of the free meals is asked to register here.
