Ripon Pancake Race set to return next week Ripon’s much-loved annual Pancake Race will be returning next week. The event will be held on Shrove Tuesday (13th February) during half term. Residents are set to line the streets near Ripon Cathedral before the Lenten Bell signals the start of the race at 11am. The Lenten Bell signifies the beginning of 40 days of fasting. Participants will race from the Cathedral View Cafe to the Royal Oak pub, earning themselves a pancake courtesy of Squid and Tonic and a Cadbury’s Cream Egg donated by Hemingway’s Marketing Services.
