Police increase patrols after burglaries in Harrogate and Pannal

Police are appealing for witnesses following burglaries in Harrogate and Pannal.

Police are increasing patrols in Harrogate and Pannal after burglars stole jewellery and watches from homes.

North Yorkshire Police is appealing to anyone who saw suspicious people, vehicles or activity around Mill Hill Lane in Harrogate or Hill Top Lane in Pannal to come forward.

The break-ins were part of a series that also affected Cliffe, near Selby, and Cowesby, near Thirsk.

They took place in the late afternoon or early evening between 17th October and 4th November.

Inspector Greg Davies of the Neighbourhood Policing Team said:

“We are carrying out a full and thorough investigation into this series of burglaries, and our communities can expect to see increased patrols in the areas targeted.”

He added:

“No matter how insignificant you think the information may be, if it looked unusual for your neighbourhood, please trust your instincts and report it.”

Police are encouraging residents to secure windows and doors on every floor and keep valuable jewellery out of sight.

They also advise photographing or marking valuables so they can be identified if stolen.

Anyone with information can contact North Yorkshire Police online or call 101, quoting reference 12260217745. Information can also be given anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Anyone who sees a crime in progress should call 999.
