Remembrance Sunday: Events, parades and road closures

Remembrance Sunday in Harrogate last year.

We will be observing the two minute silence at 11am on Sunday (9th November).

At 12:30PM on Sunday in Harrogate, Stonefall Cemetery will host a Remembrance service with representatives from the Harrogate Army Foundation College.

At 3PM, Starbeck’s War Memorial will host a ceremony for Remembrance Sunday.

Keep an eye on our socials too as we'll be at the cenotaph in Harrogate. A short parade takes place from 10:45AM.

In Knaresborough, a remembrance parade will result in brief road closures from 9:15AM until 11:55AM and affect Station Road, High Street and Market Place. 

1953 Knaresborough Squadron Air Training Corps (Kaw) have assisted in putting up the poppy display in the Castle grounds and the Knaresborough Branch of the Royal British Legion have assisted with poppy flags around the town. 

The parade will begin at 9:30am at St John's Church, making it's way to the war memorial in the castle grounds. At 11am, there will be a two-minute silence, followed by a service of remembrance at the memorial.

Ripon hosts an act of Commemoration in the Spa Gardens at 10.50am followed by the 21 Engineers parading through the city for a Remembrance Day Service in the cathedral at 11.45am.

In Boroughbridge, a service will begin at St James' Church at 9:45AM, followed by a parade by 6 regiment to Hall Square, for a service of remembrance from 10:45AM.

In Pateley Bridge from 10:30AM, a service will be held at St. Cuthbert's Church. Then at 4:30PM, there'll be a British Legion service in the same church.

In Wetherby, a parade leaves the town hall at 10:40AM and heads to the War memorial for 10:50AM. The silence at 11am will be followed by at a service at St James' Church.
