A new gourmet food venue offering an alternative to "sub-standard takeaways" has opened in Harrogate.
The Gourmet Food Shack has launched on Knaresborough Road, owned and operated by husband and wife team Helen and Mal.
The pair decided to launch the business after growing fed up with “sub-standard takeaways and foods full of additives and preservatives.”
Helen and Mal told Your Harrogate:
“If you are like us, have busy lives, juggling work and household chores cooking is sometimes the last thing on your mind. We’ve been there!
“So, what did we do? We ordered takeaway that was at best okay but generally unhealthy, very expensive and most often extremely disappointing.
“Choice was also an issue; how many times have you settled for something you didn’t really want but it was available and quick, so you ordered it and then wished you hadn’t?
“Well, we decided it was time for change and the Gourmet Food shack was born.”
The Gourmet Food Shack offers a fusion of tapas and sharing plates from around the globe.
And as part of their launch today (Thursday), they’re giving visitors a flavour of what’s to come.
Dishes on offer include bourbon BBQ wings, chilli con carne, ginger, tomato and garlic meatballs and rigatoni bolognaise.
The new shop also provide artisan pies, cheeses, onion bhajis, cured meats, chutneys and desserts.
Helen and Mal said:
“We make fresh meals without additives, colourings or preservatives giving our customers the choice to not only eat healthy but tasty meals cooked by our in-house chef.
“Our Kitchen produces cooked chilled meals for you to enjoy in your own home, simply call in choose from our range of freshly cooked dishes in our refrigerated display, take them home and refrigerate and then follow the easy heating instructions and enjoy.
“Our fresh products can be refrigerated for up to three days or if you want a long-term solution, we do a fresh frozen range you can put into your home freezer.”
