Work gets underway on new Gail's Bakery in Harrogate

Gail's Bakery will open on James Street later this year.

Work has started on the new Gail's Bakery in Harrogate town centre.

Signs have gone up at the former Russell & Bromley shop on James Street, with the bakery aiming to open in November.

Gail's confirmed its plans for Harrogate earlier this year after advertising a number of jobs in the town.

Speaking about its new Harrogate location, a Gail's spokesperson said:

“The opening will bring Gail's craft baking to the community, including creating a number of craft baking, barista, and management roles.

“We will also be donating surplus baked goods through our Neighbourly partnerships.

“This is part of our ongoing commitment to giving back to the communities we serve and improving access to quality food and drink on the high-street.”

Founded in London during the 1990s, Gail's began as a wholesale supplier to restaurants before opening its first neighbourhood bakery café in Hampstead in 2005.

It has since expanded to more than 170 locations across the UK and is known for its handmade breads, sourdough loaves, pastries and speciality coffees.
