New pre-school officially opens in Harrogate

Harrogate Mayor Viv Poskitt opens Little Ferns Pre-Schoo at Coppice Valley Primary.

A new pre-school for children aged three and four has officially opened in Harrogate.

Little Ferns Pre-School opened at Coppice Valley Primary School on Tuesday (8th September), offering 26 places for local families.

The Mayor of Harrogate, Councillor Viv Poskitt, cut the ribbon during a special celebration attended by children, families and staff.

Visitors were invited to tour the newly refurbished facilities, meet the Little Ferns team and take part in a stay and play session.

The pre-school offers indoor and outdoor learning, including access to the school grounds and Forest School experiences.

Learning through play, curiosity and exploration will be central to the provision, alongside a focus on developing children’s communication and language skills.

Coppice Valley Primary School Headteacher Hannah McNamara said:

“We’re really proud to open Little Ferns Pre-School as the newest part of Coppice Valley.

“It means we can welcome and nurture children right from the very beginning of their educational journey, helping them build strong foundations for learning and for the people they will grow to become.

“Our school values – to be brave, kind and curious – will be at the heart of Little Ferns.

“Above all, we want every child who comes through our doors to feel happy, safe, valued and excited to learn, becoming a learner for life from their very first days with us.”

Ian Tucker, Chief Executive Officer of Red Kite Learning Trust, said:

“It is wonderful to see Little Ferns open its doors at Coppice Valley.

“High-quality early years provision gives children such an important start in their education, and it is something we are rightly proud to be developing across Red Kite Learning Trust.”
