The annual tug-of-war competition takes place on Boxing Day between teams from the Half Moon Free House and Mother Shipton Inn.
Knaresborough tug-of-war competition to return on Boxing Day Knaresborough’s annual tug-of-war competition is gearing up to return on Boxing Day. The tradition sees teams from the Half Moon Free House and Mother Shipton Inn compete in a tug-of-war contest across the River Nidd. It usually attracts around 1,000 spectators whilst raising money for local charities. And The Half Moon Free House are currently appealing for women to join their female tug-of-war team. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LYJEaZqf3WA The tug-of-war will run from 11am until 11pm on 26th December, with food being served from 2pm.
