A team of dancers from a school in Knaresborough are officially the third best in the world after winning bronze at the Dance World Cup.
Freedom Performing Arts travelled to Burgos in Spain last week to compete against 5,000 dancers from 65 countries.
41 dancers performed 10 pieces across two teams - a Junior team for children aged 6-9 and a Senior team for children aged 14+.
And it was the 6-9 year-olds that scooped a bronze medal for their Mini Large Group Showstopper.
Freedom Performing Arts founder Amy Meikle said:
“I’ve been an emotional wreck! I’m just so proud of these guys… what they have achieved is unbelievable.
“Huge thank you to our incredible dance parents for getting them here and supporting us all in this amazing opportunity.
“Also big shout out to our sponsors for making this possible!”
Freedom’s Senior team of 10 dancers ranked 12th in the world and 3rd in England following their first dance in Spain.
Amy said:
“These girls absolutely smashed it! Two of them slept on the airport floor last night and only arrived one hour before their dance… but still got on that stage and gave everything!
“Honestly we couldn’t have asked more of these guys.
“The 10 of them worked so hard to get to this point and you were fire up there!”
The team then ranked 7th in the world (1st in England) for their Mad Hatter dance in the Senior Large Group Commercial category.
They ranked 6th in the world (4th in England) for their 'It’s Britney' routine.
