A dance school from Knaresborough are heading to Spain today (Thursday) to represent England at the Dance World Cup.
Freedom Performing Arts will compete against more than 5,000 dancers from 65 countries during the competition in Burgos, which runs until 12th July.
Freedom entered one dance piece in last year’s competition, but will be back with 10 pieces and 41 dancers in this year’s competition.
They will have two teams competing - a Junior team for children aged 6-9 and a Senior team for children aged 14+.

Freedom Performing Arts founder Amy Meikle told Your Harrogate:
“I know it’s a bit cliche but I’m just so proud of them to have got this far and they’re already world ranked, so whatever happens this week I’m sure we’ll have the best time.
“I can’t wait to see them on the stage.
“Massive good luck to all of the students today, whether you’re flying from Manchester or Leeds, we will see you in Spain!”
The dance school have managed to raise £30,000 through sponsorships and support from local businesses, which will go towards covering costs for families to travel to the competition and accommodation, as well as the team kit and costumes.
But the school still need to raise a further £9,000.

Benefits to sponsors include the promise of being involved in Freedom’s hugely popular community shows, including a feature in the programme and on their social media channels.
Amy said:
“I’m so grateful to all of the businesses in the local area who have helped so far.
“We’ve had five incredible headline sponsors and lots of other businesses who have put their hand in their pocket to help the children get what they need.”
