I Will Never Let You Down

Harrogate theatre company to stage Legally Blonde musical

Legally Blonde is hitting a stage near you.

A Harrogate-based theatre company is bringing the hit musical Legally Blonde to the stage in Leeds.

Bright Light Productions will perform the musical comedy at the Carriageworks Theatre from Wednesday 9th to Saturday 12th September.

Based on the novel by Amanda Brown and the 2001 film, the show follows Elle Woods as she enrols at Harvard Law School in an attempt to win back her former boyfriend.

A spokesperson for Bright Light Productions said audiences can expect comedy, energetic choreography and an “explosion” of singing and dancing:

"Elle Woods appears to have it all until her life is turned upside down when her boyfriend Warner dumps her so he can attend Harvard Law. Determined to get him back, Elle ingeniously charms her way into the same prestigious law school.

"Whilst there, she struggles with peers, professors and her ex.

"With the support of some new friends, Elle quickly realises her potential and sets out to prove herself to the world!

The company has promised a modern interpretation of the story while retaining the elements which made the original film and musical popular.

Bright Light Productions was founded in Harrogate and aims to provide local performers with opportunities to appear in large-scale productions.

Its cast has spent recent months rehearsing the show’s harmonies, choreography and musical numbers.

Performances will begin at 7.30pm each evening, with an additional 2.30pm matinee on Saturday.

The production has a running time of approximately two hours and 30 minutes, including an interval, and is recommended for people aged ten and over.

Tickets cost £28, or £26 for restricted-view seats, including the booking fee. Tickets are available through the Carriageworks Theatre website.
