Revellers were encouraged to get into the Christmas Spirit without reaching for the spirits at Harrogate Spring Water's Mindful Drinking event.
Harrogate Spring Water hosts mindful Christmas cocktail event Revellers were encouraged to get into the Christmas Spirit without reaching for the spirits as Harrogate Spring Water hosted a special Mindful Drinking event. Attendees at the Festive Cocktail Magic event at Grantley Hall enjoyed making their own non-alcoholic cocktails as well as hearing how more consumers are opting for mindful drinking when it comes to celebrating major moments. Research commissioned by Harrogate Spring Water found that 57% of people now choose to drink non-alcoholic drinks as well as alcoholic drinks at social occasions and that 62% of people are now more inclined to drink in moderation. With this in mind, revellers at Grantley Hall learned how to make two delicious non-alcoholic cocktails – Floradora and Ramos Angel – curated by Wetherby-based alcohol-free spirit maker Bax Botanics before adding their own festive flourishes to top off their creations. “Christmas is always a great time for celebration. In the last few years we have seen that people are becoming more mindful in their drinking habits and more interested in consciously enjoying every moment. “Exercising mindful drinking – such as enjoying a glass of water between drinks or trying tasty new non-alcoholic drinks – can help make festive occasions more memorable for all the right reasons. “It was great for us to partner with the team at Bax Botanics at such an iconic Yorkshire venue to show how celebrations can really go with a swing without alcohol.”Harrogate Spring Water’s Mindful Drinking Survey also uncovered how 36% of adults who would previously have never dreamed of socialising without drinking alcohol have now done so and that 32% of adults felt an overall improvement in health and wellbeing by being more mindful of their alcohol consumption. Chris Bax of Bax Botanics said:
“We were delighted to get the chance to team up with Harrogate Spring Water for the Festive Cocktail Magic event. “We’ve certainly found in recent years that people are much more open to socialising and attending events without drinking alcohol and the popularity of non-alcoholic spirits is definitely on the rise. “People can enjoy sophisticated and very tasty cocktails which really zing with flavour but which don’t make for sore heads or hazy memories in the morning.”[caption id="attachment_93276" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Guests at Harrogate Spring Water's Mindful Drinking event.[/caption] Attendees at the event were full of praise. Bridget MacKinnon from Harrogate said:
“I’m a mum of four so I’ve spent a lot of time over the past few years having my fair share of non-alcoholic drinks so it’s great to be able to have non-alcoholic drinks that look pretty and taste nice, like these do. “A few years ago, there was always a bit of a stigma attached to you if you were at social events and weren’t drinking alcohol. "I think this is starting to change and I don’t think anyone would question you if they saw you drinking these cocktails as they look and taste just like a real cocktail.”Laura Mackey from Sunderland said:
“I’m pregnant with my second child so I totally understand the mindful drinking message. Even when I’m not pregnant, I don’t want to feel bad the next morning as I just don’t have them time. “There is not a lot of choice when it comes to non-alcoholic drinks so cocktails like these are fantastic and I loved having a go at making them. “I think a lot of people in their 30s like me are drinking less alcohol or are starting to, so being able to try something different that’s non-alcoholic is great. “Also, I’ve never thought of adding sparkling water to a cocktail before but this is a lovely innovation and something I’m going to try myself in the future.”[caption id="attachment_93266" align="aligncenter" width="1024"] Harrogate Spring Water.[/caption] The mindful cocktail-making event forms part of Harrogate Spring Water’s Drinking Life In campaign, encouraging people to fully take in the moment and enjoy their experiences. The company, which is the official water of Royal Ascot and Ascot Racecourse, operated its own Excelebration Mindful Drinking Bar at Royal Ascot this year which saw celebrities including Georgia Toffolo line up to enjoy a range of non-alcoholic treats prepared by celebrity Mixologist Merlin Griffiths. Harrogate Spring Water also has a dedicated Mindful Drinking Hub on its website with links to its Mindful Drinking Survey as well as mindful drinking tips and tricks from experts including Dr Alex George and a host of mindful cocktail recipes to try.
