A number of charitable Harrogate retailers are appealing for chocolate donations this Christmas in a bid to support people in need.
Retailers on Harrogate’s Commercial Street have relaunched their annual festive chocolate collection for a fifth year, encouraging residents to donate selection boxes, tubs of chocolates, mince pies and biscuits.
Donations will be shared between Harrogate Hospital and Community Charity and New Beginnings, a peer-led after-crisis domestic abuse service for women and children across North Yorkshire.
Organisers say they hope to provide “an abundance of chocolate and treats” for children spending Christmas in hospital, as well as for families rebuilding their lives after experiencing domestic abuse.

Chocolate and festive treats can be dropped off at three Commercial Street businesses: Lilly’s Café at number 24, Curtain and Blind Design at number 17, and White Rose Sewing and Craft Centre at number 3.
Each location is hosting a basket for donations from 15 November until 20 December.
Retailers say the appeal helps ensure charities can receive items in time for Christmas, as many manufacturers list use-by dates that fall after the holiday.
