Harrogate ice cream man raises £1,600 for Children in Need

John Taylor of CM Ices has raised more than £1,600 for Children in Need.

A Harrogate ice cream vendor has helped raise more than £1,600 for BBC’s Children in Need campaign.

C & M Ices, which serves communities across Harrogate, Ripon and Boroughbridge, took part in this year’s fundraising efforts by providing free ice creams in exchange for voluntary donations to the charity.

The initiative formed part of a wider campaign involving ice cream vendors across the country.

Throughout the week, the business visited a number of local schools, including Bilton Grange Primary, Boroughbridge Primary, Holy Trinity CE Junior School, St Wilfrid’s Catholic Primary School, St Wilfrid’s School and Roecliffe CE Primary School.

Owner John Taylor said:

“Many, many thanks to the schools that helped me raise some money for Children in Need this year!

“I have another £200 cash to put in from Holy Trinity making their total well over £300 - and the total raised just over £1,600.

“Fabulous stuff!”

All proceeds will go directly to BBC Children in Need.

Residents who were not able to take part in the school visits can still donate through the fundraiser’s online link, which remains open here.
