A pair of amazing parents in Ripon have been surprised with afternoon tea thanks to Mama Doreen’s Emporium.
We’ve teamed up with Mama Doreen’s to celebrate Afternoon Tea Week by delivering afternoon tea to deserving people across the Harrogate district.
We asked for your nominations via our website, with a new winner receiving a special treat each weekday throughout the week.
And the first winners are Maggie and Joff from Studley Roger, who were nominated by their daughter Anna.
Unfortunately Anna suffered a serious accident recently in which she was scolded by hot tea whilst at a cafe.
Due to her disability she was unable to evade injury.
However since the incident, Joff and Maggie have been “the most supportive parents in the world”, repeatedly taking her to and from Pinderfields Hospital for treatment.
And as a special ‘thank you’, Your Harrogate’s Pete Egerton delivered takeaway afternoon tea from Mama Doreen's, chocked full of sweet treats.
A surprised Joff said:
“Thank you very much indeed, that’s really appreciated.
“Anna has had a troubled life, even from the very beginning. She had pericarditis when she was just a few months old.
“But most recently she had a very nasty scolding accident and because of her disability she couldn’t move to get out of the way.
He added:
“She’s coming through it. She’s a girl on her own but we’re very proud of what she’s achieved.”
