A charity lunch held at the Yorkshire Hotel in Harrogate has raised £2,766 for Harrogate Theatre’s 125th anniversary fundraising appeal.

The event, organised by The Fat Badger Group - which owns the Fat Badger Harrogate, White Hart Hotel, Pickled Sprout and Yorkshire Hotel - was held on Friday (31st October).

The venue welcomed nearly 100 guests to the Skybar free of charge to help the Theatre raise funds.

Attendees enjoyed a two-course meal with drinks on arrival, alongside a live performance of “Sheer Luck Holmes”, a theatrical murder mystery performed between courses.

All proceeds from the lunch were donated directly to Harrogate Theatre to support its ongoing operations and community work.

Chief Executive at Harrogate Theatre, David Bown said:

“We had a fantastic afternoon at the Yorkshire Hotel for Sheer Luck Holmes.

“We’re incredibly grateful to Simon and all the team at Fat Badger Group for their constant support of the theatre and for their exceptional generosity in providing both the beautiful venue and the catering for this wonderful event.

“The food and service were exceptional and particular thanks also to the brilliant staff, especially Fran at the Yorkshire Hotel who helped make the event run so smoothly.”

Simon Cotton, Managing Director of Fat Badger Group, said:

“As a local business who’s roots are firmly in Harrogate, we like to do as much as we can to support the local community and Harrogate Theatre is such an important venue to the town and sits alongside the town’s hospitality offering with visitors to the theatre often tying in a pre-show meal or a few drinks out, so it was important to us to do what we could to help in their 125th anniversary year fundraiser.

“It was our pleasure to be able to lay on this event free of charge for them and I was delighted to see all the guests laughing and loving the very entertaining show whilst also enjoying a wonderful lunch.”

Harrogate Theatre, located on Oxford Street, is a 125-year-old Victorian venue known for events such as the annual Comedy Festival and its award-winning pantomime.

The theatre features two purpose-built performance spaces, including a main auditorium with seating for 500 across three floors.
