A community group has been given the opportunity to purchase Ripley Town Hall after the Ripley Castle Estate was put up for sale.
Ripley Star Club is bidding to buy the listed building for use by the local community - but is in need of support.
The Town Hall (AKA Hotel de Ville) was originally built in 1854 when it housed the Ripley Mechanic and Literary Institute.
In recent years, it has provided a hub for community activities such as quiz and cinema nights, as well as weddings and live music.
Ripley Star Club secretary Andy Herrington, who is spearheading the campaign to purchase the building, said:
“We are looking forward to the community owning the building which it serves and we appreciate the opportunity that Sir Thomas Ingilby has given us to purchase such a valuable community asset.”
The group are looking to raise £30,000 via Crowdfunder and has raised just over £6,300 at the time of publication.
Donations can be made online or via the Ripley Star Club stall at the Ripley Show this Sunday (11th August).
