BBC Good Food has compiled a list of the best afternoon tea offerings across the country. And Bettys, which has restaurants in Harrogate, York, Ilkley and Northallerton, has been branded “luxurious,” “elegant” and “historic.” The BBC website has created a guide for afternoon tea lovers looking for the best of the best. Speaking about Bettys, the guide said:
“Everything is present and correct, nothing overly grand or contemporary – this is all about being comforted by classics done as well as possible with a dusting of nostalgia. “The gooseberry macarons may just be the most beautiful of the six miniature cakes on offer, dainty and hand-decorated with a sugar daisy.”The guide also highlighted to pistachio and chocolate dacquoise slice, buttery scones and ham & tomato pâté sandwiches. It was created to provide an “ever-evolving list” of ideas for places to book for Mother's Day, hen dos and special family occasions. Also included on the list were The Chester Grosvenor (Cheshire), Storrs Hall (Lake District), Port Lympne Hotel & Reserve (Kent) and Cliveden House (Berkshire), among others.
