A popular village pub in the Harrogate district has announced it will soon undergo a change in management.
The Malt Shovel has announced that its current management team will be leaving the venue at the end of February or beginning of March.
In a statement shared on social media, managers James and Laura confirmed they will be departing the pub after three and a half years in charge.
They stressed that the owners, Ignition Pub Management, are not leaving and will continue to own the business.
The pub is not for sale and will not be closing, with a new management team set to take over in March.
James and Laura said the decision had been made with “very heavy hearts” and explained that there are a number of reasons behind their departure, adding that health, family and wellbeing are their top priority.
They said:
“We want to take this opportunity to thank all of our customers, suppliers and phenomenal team from the bottom of our hearts, for your custom, support and friendship over the last three and a half years. We will be eternally grateful to you all.”
The current team will remain at The Malt Shovel for several more weeks and said they will continue to welcome customers as usual until their departure.
Customers are encouraged to reserve tables in advance to help with staffing.
A number of events are planned before the management change, including a final performance by regular singer Amara on Valentine’s Night, alongside a special Valentine’s menu.
A farewell party is also scheduled to take place on Friday 20th February.
