New guide helps families find free and low-cost summer fun

A list has been compiled of affordable family activities across Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon.

Families across the Harrogate district are being encouraged to make the most of a new guide to free and low-cost activities during the seven-week summer holidays.

Harrogate & District Community Action (HADCA) has brought together a list of affordable activities taking place across Harrogate, Knaresborough, Ripon and surrounding areas to help families enjoy the summer without stretching household budgets.

The guide includes outdoor adventures, community events, creative activities, family attractions and sessions organised by local charities and community groups.

With children facing an extended seven-week summer break this year, HADCA says the guide is designed to ease some of the financial and practical pressures many parents and carers face during the holidays.

Angela Jones, Information & Communications Officer at HADCA, said:

"The summer holidays should be a time for children to make happy memories, but we know that seven weeks can be a real challenge for families – especially those already feeling the pressure of rising household costs.

"We hope this guide helps parents and carers discover affordable ways to enjoy time together, while also highlighting the fantastic community organisations across our district that work so hard to support local families."

HADCA says the guide will be updated throughout the summer and is inviting charities, community groups and local businesses to submit details of any events or activities not already included.

The guide is available to view online and can also be downloaded as a PDF from the HADCA website.
