One of Harrogate's most historic pubs has been recognised as one of the best places in the UK to enjoy a pint.
Hales Bar, on Crescent Road, has been included in The Telegraph's 2026 guide to the 650 best pubs in the UK, compiled by award-winning beer and travel writer Will Hawkes and a panel of pub experts.
The guide has expanded this year from 500 English pubs to include venues across Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
Introducing this year's guide, Will Hawkes said:
"The criteria for inclusion – charming character, welcoming staff, rich history and, of course, award-winning beer – remains the same.
“A great pub needs character, and only the best micropubs reach that level.”
Every pub featured has been personally visited and assessed by the expert panel before earning its place in the national guide.
Hales Bar is believed to be Harrogate's oldest pub, dating back to the late 18th century.
It is renowned for its Victorian interior, original gas lighting and traditional cask ales, while the town's famous sulphur spring still runs beneath the cellar.
Hales Bar is one of a number of North Yorkshire pubs to feature in The Telegraph's latest guide, alongside Blind Jack's in Knaresborough.
