A special community celebration has been announced in honour of Richard Taylor Primary School headteacher Andrew Symonds, who is set to retire.
A colourful 'Save the Date' poster circulating online has confirmed that “Symonds Fest” will take place on Friday 19th June.
Mr Symonds has been a familiar face at Richard Taylor Primary School in Bilton for over 20 years, guiding the school through challenges, including the Covid pandemic.

Over the years, he has helped guide the school through significant growth and development and has played a key role within the Yorkshire Causeway Schools Trust.
A colleague at Richard Taylor Primary said:
“Andrew is the most amazing head teacher. He is kind caring and funny, his school assemblies are the best!
“He encourages work life balance and we all Strive to work hard for him.
“He always goes above and beyond and all the children in school love him.”
Another added:
“There is absolutely nothing he wouldn’t do for our school community: from gardening club, chess club and managing every school team to donning a myriad of celebration ties, jumpers and waistcoats to drum up charitable support.”
A parent called him "the heart of our school."
They said:
“Mr Symonds consistently goes above and beyond, not only in his teaching but in the way he supports both students and staff alike.
“His dedication, kindness, and unwavering commitment create a positive and inspiring environment for everyone around him.”
Further details of Symonds Fest have not yet been revealed.
