Rugby and football legends set to go head-to-head once again in a charity golf showdown at Wetherby Golf Club.
The popular “Battle of the Balls” event is back on Thursday 21st May following the success of last year's event.
The football team will arrive looking for revenge after falling short against their rugby rivals in the inaugural match.
Leading the rugby side is Wetherby Golf Club teaching professional David Doherty, who played both rugby union and league, combined with his new career as a PGA Professional Coach, makes him a strong captain as the defending champions look to retain their title.
Captaining the football team is Tony Dorigo, the former Leeds United and England defender and long-standing Wetherby Golf Club member.
The event will see former professional athletes swap stadiums for fairways in a day combining competition, humour and plenty of sporting rivalry, with the first tee time at 11:30am.
Wetherby Golf Club General Manager, Peter Mason said:
“This is what Wetherby is all about - bringing people together, having fun, and enjoying the game in a relaxed and inclusive way.
"Having legends like David and Tony leading their teams makes it even more special, and we’re looking forward to another fantastic day.”
