The Road To Hell

Ripon girls fundraising for Parkinson's charity in memory of great grandad

Sisters Izzy and Rosie Forsythe are helping raise money for Parkinson's UK.

This year's Charity Week at Ripon Grammar School holds special significance for two of its pupils.

Sisters Izzy and Rosie Forsythe are helping raise money for Parkinson’s UK in memory of their great-grandfather, the Rev Frank Curtis.

The sisters are among many students whose families have been affected by Parkinson’s disease, a progressive brain disorder that impacts movement and other functions.

Izzy, 14, said:

“Parkinson’s UK is a very important charity for our family as our great-grandad was affected by the disease.”

Her younger sister Rosie, 11, added:

“Thanks to everyone for raising money for this amazing charity this week.”

The Rev Frank Curtis, who served as Provost of Sheffield Cathedral, died before Izzy and Rosie were born.

Their mother, Becky Forsythe, said:

“He was a wonderful man and we miss him very much. This is a cause that is very close to our hearts.”

Students across Ripon Grammar School are taking part in various fundraising activities throughout the week, with proceeds going to Parkinson’s UK.

The school’s JustGiving page reads:

“We would be grateful for any help with raising money for this very worthy cause.

“Parkinson’s UK aims to improve life for those with Parkinson’s and their loved ones by building strong, supportive communities and funding research into groundbreaking new treatments.”

By supporting Parkinson’s UK, Ripon Grammar School students hope to make a positive difference for people living with the condition and their families.
