Ripon Cathedral will once again host the Yorkshire Macmillan Carol Concert, marking the event's 28th year of fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The annual concert, which began in 1997, will return on Monday 1st December.
It was created by Lady Zetland, a former President of Macmillan, who aimed to replicate the charity’s well-established Guards Chapel Carol Concert in London at a northern venue. It was initially held at St Mary’s in Thirsk before moving to larger venues as attendance grew.
Since its launch, the Yorkshire Macmillan Carol Concert has attracted a wide range of well-known guests and contributors, including HRH King Charles III, Bear Grylls, Gervase Phinn and General the Lord Houghton.
Music is traditionally provided by professional musicians alongside choirs from Aysgarth School and Queen Mary’s.
Over 27 years, the event has raised more than £600,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support in North Yorkshire.
Funds raised at the 2024 and 2025 concerts will contribute to Macmillan’s £2.1 million appeal to upgrade the Cancer Care Centre at York Hospital.
The project is a partnership between Macmillan and the local NHS trust, aimed at improving facilities and support services for people receiving cancer care.

Tickets
Tickets can be purchased in advance through the official website for Monday 1st December, with seated options available.
Attendees can also buy £20 tickets on the door from 7pm and sit in the side aisles of the cathedral, which have additional heating.
All guests are invited to enjoy mince pies and sloe gin following the concert.
A pre-concert reception at the Old Deanery will take place from 6pm for invited guests.
