Network Rail is planning to carry out minor repairs on the railway between Cattal and Starbeck next week.
Residents living near the railway have been told to expect overnight noise as essential maintenance work takes place.
According to a letter distributed to local properties, teams will be inspecting the rails and carrying out minor repairs to the infrastructure overnight from 10pm on Tuesday 21st October until 6:30am on Wednesday 22nd October.
The company says the work has been scheduled at night to minimise disruption to train services, as fewer trains run during those hours.
Alexis Stevens, Community Relations Executive at Network Rail, said:
“I understand that working near your property overnight is far from ideal and I am sorry in advance for any disruption this may cause.”
Crews will use mobile plant equipment, generators, lighting and hand tools, and have been asked to reduce unnecessary noise where possible.
Residents with concerns or questions can contact Network Rail’s 24-hour National Helpline on 03457 11 41 41 or visit the company’s website.
