Children across the Federation of Ripley CE, Beckwithshaw and Kettlesing Schools have been taking part in a renewed road safety drive to help pupils travel to and from school safely.
The initiative follows growing concerns around traffic congestion, unsafe parking near school entrances and reduced visibility during the winter months.
In response, the federation is focusing on developing safe and responsible road habits among its pupils.
Throughout the autumn term, children took part in a range of road safety awareness activities aimed at making key messages practical and memorable.
Pupils learned about safe crossing points, the importance of staying alert near roads and how to remain visible during darker mornings and afternoons.

Local Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) visited each of the federation’s schools to support the programme.
Pupils took part in a “parking patrol”, politely reminding drivers not to block school gates, zig-zag markings and pavements, which are essential for maintaining visibility and access.
Children also entered a road safety competition to design images for banners.
The federation has highlighted specific concerns at individual school sites.
The road outside Ripley CE School is frequently used as a rat-run when traffic builds up on Harrogate Road.
The school has urged motorists to be mindful that peak traffic times coincide with school drop-off and pick-up periods and to use the main Harrogate Road where possible.
At Beckwithshaw, road safety concerns remain due to the school’s position on a corner of a main route into Harrogate.
Executive Headteacher and Designated Safeguarding Lead Victoria Kirkman said:
“Our priority is to ensure every child in our federation feels safe and confident as they travel each day.
“By working together with families, local partners and our wonderful pupils, we can create a calmer, safer environment around each of our school sites.
“We ask members of the public to be mindful of our school locations and children's safety.”
The federation plans to continue embedding road safety education throughout the year, with follow-up assemblies, pupil-led campaigns and ongoing work with local partners.
