A police drone has helped officers arrest a man after a van loaded with suspected stolen property made off from Harrogate.
At around midnight last night, officers received reports of a Ford Transit van acting suspiciously outside a shopping centre in Harrogate, with suspects reportedly loading boxes into it.
Specialist Roads Policing officers located the van shortly before 12.30am in the Pool in Wharfedale area.
When officers tried to stop the vehicle, the driver failed to stop and drove off at high speed, going through red traffic lights.
Following a short pursuit, the van was abandoned on Halton Moor Avenue in Leeds. A police drone was deployed to search the area and quickly located a man hiding in a nearby garden.
The 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop, dangerous driving, shop theft, burglary and possession of cocaine.
He remains in custody while enquiries continue.
A large quantity of suspected stolen property was recovered from the van, believed to be linked to several shop thefts.
The van has been seized for forensic examination.
