Oatlands Infant School has been awarded the prestigious Eco-Schools Green Flag Award, with a 'distinction' for its outstanding environmental efforts.
The schools eco-team lead by teacher Helen Halsall, focused on biodiversity, school grounds, and transport, with notable projects like the Bike Library and the Secret Garden.
Eco-schools highlighted the school’s Bike Bus, which gets 80-100 children biking to school every two weeks, and praised their initiatives in promoting sustainable transport and eco-awareness.
Headteacher Christopher Harrison said:
“This is just the beginning. We’re excited to keep pushing initiatives to help out students make a difference."
Oatlands plans to continue their green efforts with energy saving campaigns as well as opening their garden to the public.
