Harrogate BID's new Town Centre Support Officer is already having a positive impact on the town after helping to retrieve £600 worth of stolen goods.
Kiam Taylor, a former civil servant, was appointed in May with the task of making Harrogate “safe and welcoming for all.”
And this week he was able to work alongside partners to help locate and return stolen goods from a Harrogate shop.
A Harrogate BID spokesperson said:
“We launched the TCSO in the hope of reducing the risk of crime and anti-social behaviour in the town centre, so it's fantastic to see encouraging results like this.
“Kiam will continue to be the eyes and ears around the BID area, working to support, safeguard and improve Harrogate for all!”
A key part of the TCSO role involves working with partners, including North Yorkshire Police, North Yorkshire Council, CCTV Operatives and Harrogate Homeless Project, to tackle any problems they may face around crime.
To enhance the BID area, Kiam will report any problems to these key organisations.
He will also support any campaigns, projects or events they may host in a bid to tackle issues in the town.
If you have any questions on the TCSO or the work we do as a BID, please email us info@harrogatebid.co.uk
All reports of crime should be directed to 999, 101 or the Police UK app.
