Chain Lane Community Hub has announced that funding has been secured to support the development of new free-to-attend events in Knaresborough.
The funding has been provided through the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority as part of the Vibrant and Sustainable High Streets Fund, with support from David Skaith, Mayor of York and North Yorkshire.
The initiative, known as Eventure, brings together groups that already organise established community events in the town.
Representatives held their first steering group meeting recently, with plans now underway to develop a programme of new activities for 2026.
The first new event to receive support will be the Tinsel Town Screening on 5th December, described by organisers as a festive evening aimed at bringing residents together. The event has been led by Knaresborough Chamber.
Event organisers
Eventure is also inviting proposals from organisers interested in running new, free public events on the high street or riverside in 2026.
Applications must come from constituted companies or organisations, and partnership-led proposals are also encouraged.
A Meet & Greet session for those interested in finding out more will take place on Tuesday 16th December from 12.30pm to 1.30pm at Chain Lane Community Hub.
The steering group intends to offer support to new organisers with planning and logistical requirements.
Anyone wishing to attend the session or seeking further information can contact Charlotte McEvoy at charlotte@chainlane.org or call 01423 861066.
