Miriam Margoyles to perform as part of Harrogate Theatre's comedy festival The hilarious Miriam Margoyles will be returning to Harrogate as part of Harrogate Theatre’s autumn season. The theatre has announced its autumn schedule and Miriam, who was a hit on her visit to Harrogate in 2021, will be performing as part of the Harrogate Comedy festival. Her show will take place on Sunday 15th October and is part of her biggest tour to date. Marking the launch of her new book ‘OH MIRIAM!’, Harrogate Theatre invites audiences to join the Harry Potter star in conversation for an evening full of stories and laughs. Autumn at Harrogate Theatre From the annual Christmas pantomime to music, aerial circus, drama and more, there’s set to be 65 shows to choose from at Harrogate Theatre this autumn. The ever-popular pantomime will be back with 76 performances of this year’s show: Dick Whittington. The season opens with Cirque: The Greatest Show on Wednesday 13th September where musical theatre meets circus. This is closely followed by Gyles Brandreth (Tue 26 Sep) and Kinder (Fri 29 - Sat 30) - inspired by the real life historical events of the Czech Kindertransport. There’s also Radio Gaga: The Ultimate Tribute to Queen (Fri 6 Oct), Gareth Gates as Frankie Valli (Sun 8 Oct), The Magic of Motown (Thu 12 Oct) and The Wonder of Stevie (Sun 22 Oct). Christmas At Christmas, after sell out performances last year, Cracked Nuts: Camper than Christmas (Mon 11 – Tue 12 Dec) will be coming back to Harrogate with their cabaret remake of the family classic, ‘The Nutcracker’. Down for the Count Orchestra will Swing Into Christmas (Sat 16 Dec) recreating the music of Nat ‘King’ Cole, Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Frank Sinatra and many more. Adam Robinson will also be bringing his usual selection of ghost stories in Gravest Fears: Two Ghost Stories by M R James (Fri 15 – Sat 16 Dec) at the Wesley Centre. New work Each year Harrogate Theatre supports a range of artists creating new work. This year companies were invited to pitch ideas which would be suitable for non-traditional theatre spaces. Among those selected and performing this season are Michael Pinchbeck with Another Way of Telling (Tue 26 – Thu 28 Sep) at the Mercer Art Gallery, exploring the relationship between performance and photography and Brave Words will present Mutton (Fri 24 Nov) at West Park United Reformed Church, telling the story of Mary Bateman, Leeds’ most famous witch and con-woman. For the children and families there is of course Dick Whittington, this year’s pantomime (Wed 22 Nov – Sun 14 Jan). Also for kids this season is Tell Tale Twit (Sat 07 Oct), part of the Comedy Festival and suitable for ages 7+. The show is full of nonsense and roaring chaos as childhood tales are turned upside down to find out what they’re really about. For younger children, The Stars in the Sky (Sat 21 Oct) is a beautiful shadow puppet show for ages 3+. Community Theatre As always there is a wide selection of shows brought to you by Harrogate Theatre's fabulous community companies. The Harrogate Dramatic Society will perform the stage adaptation of the 1998 film Shakespeare in Love (Thu 19 - Sat 21 Oct) and Harrogate St. Andrews Players presents the smash hit musical, Priscilla Queen of the Desert (Wed 25 - Sat 28 Oct).
