The Your Harrogate Local Hero Awards are set to return this evening - and this year's finalists may just be the best yet.
That's according to judges, who have whittled hundreds of nominations down to three across ten categories.
The annual event is back at Rudding Park to recognise and celebrate extraordinary people from across the Harrogate area.
And this year’s stories are among the most inspirational and emotional that we have seen, according to those involved in the judging process.
James Rycroft, Managing Director of Vida Healthcare, said:
“I’m genuinely astonished. This year has been the best year so far and I’m really privileged to have been involved in the judging process. It’s been seriously hard but I think we’ve got there.”
Vida Healthcare and O’Connor Chiropractic are headline sponsors for the awards for the second consecutive year.
Jason O’Connor from O’Connor Chiropractic said:
“It’s an incredibly hard task. We’ve been involved in the Local Hero Awards for several years and we’re always amazed at the individual stories, these real heroes who are all winners.
"We’re very proud to be part of the event and see a snippet of these amazing people’s lives and what they do.”

Among the category sponsors is Lauren Doherty of Road Safety Talks, who is sponsoring the Emergency Services Award.
Lauren herself is a former Stray FM Local Hero Award winner.
She said:
“I think that there are so many amazing people in our community that do a lot of things that they don’t get recognition for. It’s so hard to choose just one winner.“
