Harrogate has been named the UK's most relaxing town for 2026, according to new research.
The study, conducted by Online-Casinos.com, ranked towns using a range of metrics including green space quality, cleanliness, safety, noise and light pollution, happiness ratings, population size and population density.
The findings come as 74% of UK adults report having felt overwhelmed by stress at some point in the past year, highlighting growing interest in calmer environments and slower-paced lifestyles.
Harrogate placed first overall, recording 92% of its green spaces as high quality, alongside a cleanliness score of 82.
Noise and light pollution levels were among the lowest measured in the ranking, at 21, suggesting quieter surroundings and reduced visual disturbance compared with more built-up areas.

Population density was also identified as a significant factor.
Harrogate has 168 residents per square kilometre, considerably lower than towns such as Cheltenham, which has 2,613 residents per square kilometre, and Eastbourne, which has 2,361.
The research suggests that lower crowding, combined with strong environmental standards, contributes to a more relaxed day-to-day atmosphere.
A spokesperson for Online-Casinos.com said:
“Harrogate stands out due to its balance across every core relaxation factor, with 92% of green space ratings classed as high quality, indicating a strong standard of parks and natural areas within the town.
“Cleanliness levels are also high, with a score of 82, supporting a well-maintained public environment.”
Telford and Cheltenham shared second place overall - but no other Yorkshire locations made the top 10.
