Last chance to sign up for Saint Michael's Lake District challenge

Saint Michael's Hospice is hosting a fundraising challenge in the Lake District.

Saint Michael’s Hospice is calling on local people to sign up for a new multi-activity challenge in the Lake District next month.

The Harrogate-based charity is looking for members of its #TeamPurple to take on the Lake District Challenge at Coniston Water on Saturday 19th September.

Participants will cycle, hike and kayak their way through the Lake District in a one-day challenge designed to raise vital funds for local hospice care.

The adventure begins with around 10 miles of cycling through trails and woodland surrounding Coniston, before participants swap their bikes for walking boots.

They will then tackle a five-mile hike up the Old Man of Coniston, one of the Lake District’s best-known peaks, before finishing with a two-mile kayak across Coniston Water.

Saint Michael’s said the event offers the chance to “push yourself, enjoy an incredible day outdoors and make a real difference” for the hospice.

Entry costs £50, with participants also pledging to raise £290 in sponsorship.

Those joining Team Purple will receive a Saint Michael’s Hospice branded top and fundraising support, while lunch, snacks and water will be provided during the challenge.

Bike, kayak and helmet hire are also included, with celebratory drinks waiting at the finish.

The deadline to register is Friday 21st August.

Saint Michael’s Hospice provides specialist care and support to local people and families affected by terminal illness across the Harrogate district.
