Ripon's Olympic diver Jack Laugher missed out on a medal in the diving 3m springboard final this afternoon (Thursday).
The 29-year-old went into the event in Paris having already bagged a bronze medal in the three-metre synchro with Anthony Harding.
But he came up short in the 3m springboard final, losing out to highly fancied favourites Siyi Xie and Zongyuan Wang of China, who won gold and silver respectively.
Zongyuan Wang went into the event having won the 3m synchro last Friday, and Siyi Xie had won both the synchro and individual golds in Tokyo.
Jack finished in 7th place with a score of 410.95 - missing out on bronze which went to Mexican Osmar Ibarra with a score of 500.40.
Speaking after the event, Jack said:
“Today I had excellent training but I think I just got too far ahead of myself.
“I’m really proud of these Olympics, I’m proud of myself.
“With four olympic medals it’s hard to be sad but right now I’m devastated.”
Chris Houlden, also of Team GB, finished 5th with a score of 427.75.
