Harrogate pupils welcome roarsome visitor to school playground

Children at Oatlands Infant School were greeted by a T-rex this morning.

Oatlands Infant School pupils had a 'roarsome' visitor this morning.

Children have been taking part in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Maths) week - and a Jurassic giant stomped onto the school playground at the start of the school day to kickstart questioning and exploration in classrooms.

Prehistoric clues have popped up around the school site over the past few days, and today, the children were greeted by an enormous T-Rex on the playground before school.

This led into year group workshops, where children used their scientific questioning skills to find out more about dinosaurs from the Raptors World experts.

Headteacher Mr Harrison said,

"We loved seeing the joy on our children's faces as they met our dino-visitors today.

"Raptors World have delivered a day filled with learning and joy, from which we will springboard conversations across the STEM spectrum.

"We work incredibly hard to create lasting memories for all our learners, which we hope our children will look back on fondly as adults.

"You're only a child once, so you might as well enjoy it!"

Children also used their marvellous maths when exploring dates and timelines, and they investigated the engineering marvels that were the ride-on triceratops.
