Horticap celebrates double win at Harrogate Flower Show

Horticap's Erica and Emma celebrate their show garden winning two awards.

A Harrogate horticulture charity is celebrating a double award win at this year's Harrogate Spring Flower Show.

Horticap was awarded both a Premier Gold Award and a Special Award for its community garden display, inspired by Winnie the Pooh.

The charity is exhibiting at the Harrogate Spring Flower Show throughout the week, which is taking place at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre until Sunday (26th April).

Erica Ward told Your Harrogate:

“We got the highest ever score for a community garden! Honestly we have spent the last few months living the life of Winnie the Pooh with our students.

“It’s not been like doing a show garden at all, it’s just been fun!

“Winnie the Pooh couldn’t have been a better narrative for Horticap.

She added:

“Horticap is a family, and Winnie the Pooh, Piglet, Owl, all those characters, are one big family and what they celebrate is difference.

“Our show garden is ‘what’s different about me makes me’ and whether that be the students, the staff, the volunteers, everyone at Horticap is different.”

Founded in 1984, Horticap provides horticultural training and opportunities for adults with learning disabilities and other additional needs.

Alongside its training work, Horticap contributes to Harrogate’s reputation for floral displays and community pride.
