A much-loved Headteacher is set to retire after 35 years in education.
Pannal Primary School Head Mrs Jane Turner will retire when the school breaks up for summer on Friday (18th July).
She has been at Pannal for 15 years, during which time she has been called an “inspiration” and one who will leave a “lasting legacy.”
As a special tribute, the school dedicated its annual Summer Fayre to Mrs Turner, renaming it ‘Turnerfest.’
The event, held on Thursday 10th July, featured music, a bouncy castle, tombolas and other fundraising opportunities.
A spokesperson for Pannal Primary School's PTA told Your Harrogate:
“It’s hard to put into words just how much Mrs Turner has meant to our school community over the past 15 years.
“She has been more than just a leader—she has been a constant source of support, encouragement, and inspiration for our children, staff, and families.
“Whether it was greeting students with a smile, championing every school play, music event and sports day, or simply being there when someone needed a kind word, her presence has shaped the spirit of our school.”
They added:
“She has allowed our children to grow under her guidance, not just academically, but as kind, confident individuals.
“Her passion for education and genuine care for every child has left a lasting legacy. As she heads into retirement, we hope she knows just how deeply appreciated she is.
“She will be missed more than words can say, but we’re so excited for her to enjoy this next chapter. Thank you for everything—you’ve truly made a difference.”
Staff members at Pannal praised Mrs Turners’ “vision and presence” since she joined the school in 2010.
They said:
“Fifteen years ago, you walked up the driveway to Pannal School, we have never looked back.
“Your dedication and hard work have been an inspiration, leaving a lasting legacy which we will endeavour to continue.
“Your vision and presence have brought joy to Pannal School, its staff, pupils and parents.
“Though you may be retiring your impact will remain forever. Retirement means no more meetings, no more reports to read, no more alarms to wake up to, no more standing at the gate come rain or shine.
“Mrs Turner, you have dedicated 35 years of your life to children and their education, you will be missed.
“Congratulations on your retirement, may it be filled with new adventures and happiness.”
