A historic village pub near Boroughbridge has reopened following a major refurbishment and a change in ownership.
The Punch Bowl Inn in Marton Cum Grafton, near Boroughbridge, reopened its doors earlier this month after being acquired by Langthorpe Living Ltd, with hospitality operator Simon Wade taking ownership.
Simon, who already operates several venues including the Blue Bell at Arkendale, the Grantham Arms in Boroughbridge and the Fox and Hounds in Langthorpe, said the Punch Bowl’s heritage and history made it a natural addition to his portfolio.

The 16th Century inn, which was once owned by television actor Neil Morrissey, has undergone a full cosmetic refurbishment with a shooting and country-inspired theme throughout.
The venue’s outdoor area has also been redesigned to include a new sun terrace with updated seating and an outdoor dining menu.
The interior has been fully redecorated and reupholstered, with the design work led by Simon's wife.
Heading up the day-to-day operation is general manager Laura Addle, alongside head chef Andy Glasby.

The pub’s new management team says it aims to create a welcoming venue for both local residents and visitors, with a focus on food, community events and family-friendly hospitality.
Laura said:
“We wanted to provide a place for all the locals to use and beyond to ensure everyone comes back to the pub which was once vibrant.
“We are happy to say we have a great team in place and welcome back old staff members!”
She added:
“We are incredibly proud of how we have managed to transform a pub that was at its lowest.
“We are looking forward to the future, of regenerating its popularity and providing a sensational local pub for the village.”
The new menu includes Yorkshire tapas, traditional pub dishes and homemade sourdough pizzas.
The venue is also planning a programme of events including quiz nights, arts and crafts evenings, cocktail-making events and live music on bank holidays.

A weekly “Steak and Grape” night held every Thursday is already proving popular with customers, according to the management team.
The pub says it welcomes families, dog owners, walkers, cyclists and car clubs, with further developments planned in the coming months, including a new sports-related offering.
