One of Harrogate's best-known bars is facing uncertainty after its owner announced plans to enter administration.
The announcement, made by the parent company of Revolucion de Cuba on Parliament Street, puts thousands of hospitality jobs at risk nationwide.
The bar is owned by Revel Collective, which operates 62 pubs and bars across Britain.
The group confirmed that it has filed to enter administration while talks with a potential buyer are “well advanced”.
Revel Collective, which also owns the Revolution bar chain - often referred to as “Revs” - said as many as 2,200 jobs could be affected by the process.
But the company said that its venues, including Revolucion de Cuba sites, will continue trading while a sale is finalised.
In a statement, the company said it decided to enter administration to “protect creditors”, including banks, and confirmed that shareholders will receive nothing following the sale.
Trading of Revel Collective shares has also been suspended on London’s junior AIM stock exchange.
The group first put itself up for sale in October, citing what it described as a “continued period of external challenges”.
These included rising costs and wider economic pressures affecting the hospitality sector.
Administrators are expected to be formally appointed within the next 10 days.
Revel Collective said in December that it had been publicly linked with several hospitality groups, including bar and club owner Neos Hospitality, and that it had identified a “significant number” of potential buyers.
An announcement on the sale of the business is expected in the coming days.
