Harrogate's volunteer-run Repair Café will be back next weekend, offering free fixes for broken household items.
The café returns on Saturday 15th November from 12pm to 4pm at the Friends Meeting House on Queen Parade.
The monthly event, usually held on the third Saturday, invites visitors to bring items such as clothing and textiles, jewellery, small appliances, furniture, electronics, toys and ornaments.
A team of volunteer repairers will assess each item and do their best to get it working again at no cost, helping to keep usable goods out of landfill and encourage a culture of repair.
Christine Hall of the Harrogate Repair Café said:
“The Harrogate Repair Café is a neighbourhood initiative that promotes repair as an alternative to tossing things out.
“We are a non-profit making bunch of enthusiastic fixers who are trying to avoid throwing stuff into landfill unnecessarily!”
Harrogate’s Repair Café is one of over 2,500 free meeting places across the world, each equipped with tools and materials to help make any repairs needed.
The event is part of a wider network of more than 2,500 Repair Cafés worldwide, where tools, materials and experienced volunteers are available to help people extend the life of everyday items.
