A Harrogate Paralympic athlete is preparing to represent Great Britain at the World Para Powerlifting Championships this month.
Charlotte 'Lottie' McGuinness will compete in Egypt next Sunday (12th October) at 6.30pm UK time, with the event due to be streamed live on YouTube and Facebook.
The competition will feature around 700 male and female athletes from across the world.
Earlier this year, 23-year-old Lottie broke the British record twice in the 61kg category at the Irish Invitational event, successfully lifting 102kg, 107kg and 110kg.
She also impressed at the Paris Paralympics in 2024, recording a personal best of 105kg and narrowly missing out on a medal.
Her rise in the sport began when she was first spotted at the National Dwarf Games in 2019, which led to her joining the national talent pathway.
Since then, she has competed at major events across Europe and for Team GB, establishing herself as one of the UK’s leading para powerlifters.
Lottie is flying out to Cairo this week to prepare for the Championships, where she will once again look to showcase her strength on the world stage.
