A Harrogate man is set to cycle more than 8,000 miles from his home to the Himalayas.
Thorsten Bruce is taking on the challenge next month to fundraise for Rainbow Children’s Home - a Nepali orphanage that his family has been supporting for more than 15 years.
He’s also fundraising for Young Minds - a UK charity that provides vital mental health support for young people.
The epic 8-month challenge is an unsupported bike ride that he hopes will “help young people” and “make a real difference in their lives.”
Thorsten, who is a Harrogate Rotarian, will leave at 7am on 1st March.
He will travel through 19 countries and expects to face “daunting” weather and physical challenges.

Although he will be making the journey on his own, his wife plans to join him for parts of the trip, including cycling along Turkey’s northern coast.
Friends will also travel with him at various times, and he’ll have support from the Rotary Clubs along his route.
He has already raised more than £3,300 towards his target of £5,000.
