A determined Harrogate fundraiser is set to push his physical and mental limits to the extreme in 2026 in aid of Saint Michael’s Hospice.
Ian Adair is taking on an ambitious series of endurance challenges to raise vital funds for the hospice, designed to reflect the hospice’s round-the-clock care.
Ian has committed to challenges that symbolise the 365 days a year, 24 hours a day, seven days a week support the charity provides to patients and their families.
Throughout the year, he will run the equivalent of a marathon every week, alongside completing seven consecutive 70.3 Ironman-distance triathlons - each dedicated to a different service within the hospice.

He will also take on an extraordinary 365-mile triathlon challenge, culminating in a multi-day endurance event from 2nd-4th October.
It will involve heading to Ellerton Lake for a 7-mile swim before cycling back to Harrogate and cycling around the local area, covering an impressive 290 miles by bike.
Ian will then run 68 miles to round off the 365 swim, bike, run.
Finally, his last challenge will take place on 4th December, in which he will aim to run in loops around central Harrogate and the Stray for 24 hours, covering 100km plus.
Speaking about his motivation, Ian said:
“This journey is about far more than endurance. It represents resilience, commitment, and the unwavering support of friends and family – the same values that Saint Michael’s Hospice demonstrate every day for patients and their loved ones.
“They are there when people need them most, providing care, compassion and comfort around the clock.”
All of Ian’s challenges will be self-organised and completed in and around Harrogate, with aim of raising awareness as well as funds for the hospice’s vital work across the local community.
Sandra Gilbert, from Saint Michael’s Hospice, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to Ian for taking on such a remarkable challenge in support of our work.
“The scale of what he is undertaking is truly inspiring, and his commitment reflects the strength and compassion at the heart of our community.
“Every pound raised will help us continue to provide specialist care and support to those who need it most.”
Funds raised through Ian’s challenge will support the hospice in delivering a wide range of services, ensuring individuals and families facing terminal illness and bereavement receive the expert care and support, in a compassionate environment.
