Harrogate estate agents help raise £3,800 for children's charity

The Dacre Son & Hartley team on their fundraising challenge.

Staff from Dacre Son & Hartley’s Harrogate, Knaresborough and Ripon branches have played their part in helping raise an impressive £3,800 for charity.

Staff joined the wider Dacre team to fundraise in aid of The Principle Trust Children’s Charity – and have raised enough to provide six week-long respite breaks for some of Yorkshire’s most vulnerable families.

They were joined by colleagues from Simply Conveyancing, Mortgage Advice Bureau and Kempston Parkes Surveyors.

On 9th October, the team took on a 16-mile trek from Bingley to Leeds.

Setting off from the iconic Five Rise Locks in Bingley, the walkers followed the picturesque Leeds to Liverpool Canal, finishing at Granary Wharf in Leeds.

Their goal was to raise £3,000, enough to fully fund five family holidays.

Thanks to generous support from across Yorkshire, they hit that target before setting off, and went on to raise even more.

By the end of the challenge, the total reached £3,800, enabling an extra family to benefit from a much-needed break.

While the team took on the 16-mile trek, Paul Wilson, Director of Dacre Son & Hartley and Ilkley resident, completed an extraordinary personal challenge, cycling the entire 127-mile Liverpool to Leeds canal route in one day.

The Principle Trust Children’s Charity provides vital free holidays for children facing trauma or abuse, poverty, mental health issues, serious illnesses, or disabilities.

These breaks allow families to spend precious time together away from daily pressures – including families from Harrogate and surrounding towns.

Andrew Davies, Director and Trustee of The Principle Trust Children’s Charity, said:

“At The Principle Trust, we are constantly humbled by the generosity and determination of local businesses who go the extra mile to support our mission.

“Every step the Dacres’ team has taken directly helps us to create lifelong memories for some of the most vulnerable families in Yorkshire.

“Because of our 100% donation policy, every penny they raise will be used to support the children and families we help.”

The team is encouraging local communities, including those in Harrogate and the surrounding area, to continue supporting their ‘Homes to Hope’ initiative by sharing their story, donating, or spreading the word.

Rebecca Reeves from Dacre Son & Hartley said:

“The work of The Principle Trust is truly inspirational, and we’re proud to support them.

“For many, these holidays are more than just a break – they are a lifeline.

“The opportunity to spend quality time together away from daily struggles helps families heal, recharge, and create positive memories that last a lifetime.”

She added:

“The trek was incredibly challenging, but it’s nothing compared to the challenges these children and their families face every day, and we are so proud to have raised £3800 which will be enough to fund five full family holidays.

“All donations, no matter the size, help The Principle Trust reach more families in need and bring hope where it’s needed most.”
